TERMS OF USE

Terms of Use

The short version: use the tool lawfully and at your own judgment; results are analytical signals, not certifications. Last updated: September 14, 2026.

1. Acceptance

By using picturematters.in (the "Service") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What the Service is

PictureMatters is a free, automated tool that analyzes image files you upload and produces a technical report of metadata, structure and provenance signals. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.

3. Acceptable use

  • Upload only images you have the right to use and analyze.
  • Use the Service for lawful purposes only.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, circumvent rate limits, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Do not use automated means to scrape, hammer or monetize access to the Service without written permission.

4. Prohibited use

  • No unlawful content — do not upload material that is illegal in your jurisdiction or ours, including content exploiting or endangering minors. Illegal uploads will be handled as required by law.
  • No harassment or stalking — do not use the Service to locate, track or intimidate people, including via GPS metadata in photos you don't have consent to investigate.
  • No privacy violations — analyzing images you have no right to possess, or using metadata findings to expose private individuals, is prohibited.
  • No misrepresentation — do not present PictureMatters reports as official forensic certification, or use the Service's name or results to imply endorsement or partnership.

5. User-uploaded content

You retain all rights to images you upload. You grant the Service no rights except the transient, technical permission to process the file to produce your report — processing that self-terminates within minutes by design. You are solely responsible for the content you upload and for complying with the terms above.

6. Intellectual property

The Service itself — code, design, text, guides and branding — is the property of PictureMatters and is protected by applicable intellectual-property law. You may link to and quote the site with attribution; you may not clone, resell or rebrand it without permission.

7. Accuracy limitations & forensic disclaimer

This section matters — please read it before relying on any report:

  • Reports describe technical signals found in a file: metadata, structure, hashes and similar evidence. They are analytical indicators, not proof of authenticity, authorship, or whether an image is edited or AI-generated.
  • Metadata can be modified, forged or removed; absence of metadata does not imply manipulation; presence of a marker does not guarantee its claims.
  • Reports may contain incomplete or mistaken findings — software has bugs, and heuristics have error rates.
  • Do not make legal, employment, journalistic or personal decisions based solely on a PictureMatters report. Interpret results in context, and seek qualified professional analysis where outcomes matter.

8. Availability

We aim for high availability but provide no uptime guarantee. The Service may change, suspend or discontinue any feature at any time. Reports and uploaded files expire automatically within minutes; save anything you need before it does.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PictureMatters and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages — including data loss, privacy harms or decisions made in reliance on reports — arising from use of or inability to use the Service. The Service is a technical aid, not a professional forensic service.

10. Abuse prevention

We may apply rate limits, reject uploads or block access to prevent abuse, comply with law, or protect the Service and its users. Automated abuse mitigation may use transient technical data as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes & contact

These terms may be updated; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Questions, concerns or reports: hello@picturematters.in or via the contact page.
